Senior Manager Engineering

• Leadership of 4 to 8 chapter leads and team leads
• Development of executives to promote autonomous teams
• Conducting 1:1 meetings, annual reviews, and salary negotiations
• Long-term retention and promotion of key personnel
• Use of regular team checks, retro feedback, and site visits to enhance team engagement
• Responsibility for delivery in your area
• Ensuring appropriate staffing in matrix-organized areas
• Eliminating cross-team blockers
• Designing the area roadmap for 6–12 months in collaboration with product and stakeholders
• Capacity planning and coordination of dependencies
• Balancing feature work, tech debt, and operational improvements
• Collaboration with the QA line to implement quality improvements
• Driving AI adoption and establishing AI standards
• Managing external delivery partners regarding quality and effectiveness

• At least 8 years of experience in software engineering
• At least 4 years of experience in leading leaders (chapter leads or team leads)
• Experience in leading multiple teams simultaneously
• Experience in using flow metrics (e.g., deployment frequency, lead time, MTTR, cycle time, throughput)
• Sufficient technical depth to critically evaluate architectural specifications from a delivery perspective
• Ability to make technical risks visible early
• Clear, reflective stance on AI in everyday engineering
• Ideally practical experience with AI-supported tools or intensive engagement with the topic
• Experience in organizational development (team structures, staffing, lead hiring, retention)
• Experience in developing distributed organizations
• Experience in working with product, UX, and external delivery partners
• Willingness to travel regularly to teams
• Experience in e-commerce, retail, or platform contexts is a plus
