Department Head for Site & Vegetation

• Leadership of the Department of Site & Vegetation, including all personnel and organizational tasks
• Strategic development of the research areas of soil science and vegetation ecology
• Planning and technical management of national and international research projects
• Acquisition of external funding to finance research activities
• Scientific publication of research results
• Development of methods for site diagnosis and classification
• Supervision of long-term monitoring programs and ecological permanent observation sites
• Integration of monitoring infrastructure into international networks
• Assessment of forest soil health based on EU guidelines
• Promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration with internal and external partners
• Representation of the department in national and international projects and expert committees
• Knowledge transfer through consulting, professional events, excursions, and training
• Participation in reporting and quality assurance of scientific work

• Completed university degree in forestry, environmental sciences, or a comparable field
• PhD preferred
• In-depth knowledge of soil, site, and vegetation sciences
• Several years of relevant professional experience in forest ecological research fields
• Leadership experience in interdisciplinary teams or complex projects
• Ability to work in a team
• Experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting ecological data
• Proficient use of GIS and database systems
• Knowledge in conception, acquisition, and implementation of scientific projects
• Experience in scientific publication
• Excellent German language skills, both spoken and written
• Excellent English language skills, both spoken and written
• High level of personal responsibility and strategic thinking
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as confident decision-making
• Willingness for interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge transfer
